On (and off) the needles No. 2

I have been very busy both knitting, pattern writing, tech editing (see Experience) and relaxing since my last post. I was on holiday for the last couple of weeks visiting friends and family (so nice), but this overlapped with the deadline for finishing the sample and pattern for my first design to be published.... eeek!

That meant I had to dedicate most of my knitting time to that - but it is finished and I am so happy! It is a little girls shrug called "Fiorellina" - and more details will follow when it's publishing time!

As a reward, and given I was in the UK and had easy access to yarn, I decided to cast on a quick and simple jumper/sweater for myself. It is also a very relaxing knit after having to be very concentrated on what I was doing for my design and writing the pattern! I am loving how it is knitting up.

I chose Rowan Pure Wool Superwash Worsted, I haven't actually read the colour - let me know if you want to know! And I have an exciting contrast colour to follow for the edgings .... :-) The pattern is from Andi Satterlund.

Oh and the bag is my new project bag - thanks Mum!

I also had to discipline myself and finish some lovely fingerless mittens I was making for a friend, so that I could actually GIVE them to her when I saw her....! These are from this Susie Rogers pattern and knit with the softest yarn ever (really! at least before you want to go for cashmere, and this blooms less but already is pretty fuzzy) Lana Grossa Alta Moda Super Baby Fine in the 001 colour. This pattern is really great and it knits up fast to give a lovely finished item which is the perfect gift! I know I'll be making more of these...not least as requests are already coming in! I will admit it was my first time hemming a knitted item (shock horror), but it was super simple actually and gives me the confidence to hem something much larger!

Anyway, I am now waiting on a delivery of yarn from Sweet Georgia Yarns scheduled to arrive tomorrow (yay) so that I can get started on my pattern sample for them.....I don't even know what colours they chose in the end so I am super excited to open up the bag/box and see!
