Stracciatella Shawl Pattern Release

It has been a very busy week here with not one but two pattern releases. After releasing the Artemis Shawl on Monday, today is the turn of the Stracciatella Shawl. The design is the result of another collaboration with the lovely Tracy of Norah George Yarns. In this design I wanted to play with texture and shape and I was thrilled with the result!

This shawl is a top-down “semi-swirl” shape which makes a stunning, very wearable accessory. You are playing with shape, colour and texture and only simple stitch patterns are used, to great effect. Two colours of fingering weight yarn create a beautiful feminine shawl, in which to wrap yourself up, and with an I-cord edge and Icelandic bind off the final article is beautifully finished.

Inspired by the speckles in the yarn, and the swirled shape to the shawl recalling Italian gelato, the Stracciatella shawl looks good enough to eat! Norah George Yarns have come up with a delectable range of ice cream inspired colourways for the kits, which will be available for pre-order at 8 pm BST (british summer time) on September 29th.

There are five options, including the Strawberry Stracciatella which I knit my shawl up in - see the gallery below for the kits and their names.

The kits are exclusive to this shawl pattern release and you get a download code for the pattern included in the kit price, along with two skeins of scrumptious 100 % superwash merino yarn (the softens 3 ply imaginable) which has a whopping 450 m in each 100 g skein. The design was totally inspired by the yarn and the coupling of a soft tonal with a matching speckled yarn.

Of course you can have a lot of fun with this shawl, and pick out any two skeins from your stash which you would like to see play together in this swirl of delicate texture. I am hosting a KAL for this shawl over in my Ravelry group - it will run from October 15th until December 15th and WIPs count so you can grab your pattern and cast on as soon as you are ready. As per usual, if you use yarn from Norah George Yarns (kits or otherwise) you will get two entries to the KAL and if the shawl qualifies for other KALs then by all means double-dip :-) !

So pick two scrumptious colours, relax and knit yourself the softest treat!
